It was a lazy Sunday afternoon until I realized the Golden Gai Summer Matsuri (festival) was today! Without any minute to waste, I jumped out of bed, took a quick shower, and went to Shinjuku.
There’s something about the magic of Shinjuku air, the flashy neon lights and busy streets that gets me every time.
But tonight was different. It’s Golden Night! Shinjuku’s Golden Gai, an alley of around 250 bars and diners, celebrate summer with drinks, food, and fun activities in every corner.
After a few wrong turns and missed intersections, I found my way to Golden Gai.
It was like exploring a different part of Japan. I had to constantly remind myself that I was still in Tokyo as I wandered and explored the narrow pathways and peeked through small bars.
Look at my photobomb! He literally posed as I took this photo! Such a cutie. There were tons of foreigners like me, and they were all warm and friendly.
Glad to have immersed and soaked in a true Japanese experience — late summer night matsuri. Nice way to cap off the weekend!
Great photowalk, It seems really lively in that city!
